Welcome to ProTechTee (it’s pronounced “Protectee,” a little play on words). Your go-to for online privacy tips. This site isn’t part of some big company or agency. It’s just me, a regular guy born in Dallas and an architect living in Chicago, who’s passionate about helping people stay safe online.
Why am I doing this? Because honestly, most people don’t even realize how exposed they are on the internet. Every day, I see friends, family, coworkers — good, smart people — using the same weak passwords, connecting to public Wi-Fi without protection, or clicking on links they shouldn’t. And I get it — life’s busy, and no one has time to sit down and figure it all out.
That’s where this site comes in. I will find the best and greatest tools and evaluate them.
What ProTechTee Means
I came up with the name ProTechTee to reflect two things: Pro Tech, as in professional technology, and Protectee, the person being protected. My goal is to make sure you, the reader, are the protectee — the one who walks away from this site feeling a little safer, a little savvier, and a lot more in control of your online life.
This is my passion project. I research tools, test products, and break down privacy topics in plain English — not because anyone’s paying me to, but because I believe everyone deserves to understand how to protect themselves in today’s digital world.
Why I Built This Website
Let me be clear: I’m not doing this because I think I’m some cybersecurity superstar. I’m just someone who’s spent a lot of time reading, learning, and applying what works. And after a while, it hit me: why not share what I know?
This website is my small way of paying it forward — sharing the knowledge I’ve picked up so others can avoid the mistakes I’ve seen (or made myself!). You’ll find practical advice, honest recommendations, and clear explanations — no scare tactics, no jargon, no fluff.
